A letter from our owner Larry Howald…
I’m fired up!!! Larry Howald Heating and Air Conditioning opened in 2011, and business is hopping. We’re looking forward to a great 2012. Thanks for supporting our business.
Most of you know me as the owner/general manager of Broad Ripple Heating and Air Conditioning. It’s the title I had for 36 years, and still would be today, if some things had not altered my path. It’s a little confusing, so I’ll give you the shortened version of the story in this timeline.
1962… My dad, Wayne, started Broad Ripple Heating and Air Conditioning and built a strong, well respected service company.
1969… I started working summers in installation and service… I loved it!
1975… My dad passed away and I left Ball State University after my 3rd year to run the company.
1990… Moved the company to what is now Howald Heating and Air’s location at 6542 Westfield Blvd.
2000… I sold Broad Ripple Heating to Lennox/Service Experts, staying on as the General Manager and continued to operate as we always had for many years.
2008… An out-of-state call center was put into place, irritating many of our customers. The family feel at Broad Ripple Heating slowly began to disappear.
2010…The company was changing rapidly and moving in a direction I wasn’t comfortable with at all. I knew my days at Broad Ripple Heating were limited.
Feb. 22, 2011… My position as general manager was eliminated. I was now unemployed for the first time in my life.
Feb. 23, 2011… I started planning Howald Heating and Air Conditioning to get back to my roots in the HVAC industry.
June 1, 2011… Lennox/Service Experts moved to the west side of Indianapolis, doing away with the Broad Ripple Heating name – forever.
June 2, 2011… I got my building back and started renovations with Sept 1, 2011 the goal for “Opening Day” at Howald Heating and Air Conditioning.
Sept. 1, 2011…Howald Heating and Air Conditioning begins serving the Indianapolis community with the best people in the business. (We even answer our own phones!)
